with Robina Beard
Robina is well known for the ‘Palmolive’ television advertisement which ran from 1968 to 1988 – 20 years in total. She is still recognized as ‘Madge’. This theatrical memoir moves all about and around stories of the entertainment industry – a dancer; a TV weather girl; an advertising icon; a performer and director in Broadway music theatre; acting and comedy; a prominent leader and teacher in dance in Australia and internationally; a company manager for a company of Aboriginal actors, and teacher at NAISDA; a mature University graduate; and awards in later life including an OAM. She shares many firsts – first TV weather girl, first television serial, first contemporary dance company, first white teacher at NAISDA. She offers comedy and she offers insights and reflection. The show is fast and funny, absorbing and enjoyable, a charming personal account of the Australian entertainment industry in the second half of the twentieth century until today, seen through the eyes of one of its most popular and talented performers.
Review : “Robina Beard demonstrates her signature charm and playfulness as she dips her hands into the sparkly, bubbly memories of a theatrical life well-lived. … A thoroughly enjoyable pas de deux down memory lane.” Sydney Arts Guide
